The Effective Mentoring Program (EMP) One-Day Refresher is for mentor teachers who have previously completed the Effective Mentoring Program. It refreshes and extends mentoring knowledge and skills to support provisionally registered teachers (PRTs) working towards full registration with the Victorian Institute of Teaching (VIT).
The Effective Mentoring Program (EMP) One-Day Refresher is designed for experienced mentor teachers who have already completed the EMP and are currently mentoring, or expecting to mentor, provisionally registered teachers (PRTs).
The refresher strengthens mentoring practice, supports reflection on mentoring experience, and provides updates on mentoring expectations, standards and processes.
The program is delivered as a partnership between the Department of Education (DE) and the Victorian Institute of Teaching (VIT).
Eligibility
To be eligible for the One-Day Refresher, participants must:
- have previously completed the Effective Mentoring Program within the last 3 years
- hold current VIT registration
- be mentoring (or preparing to mentor) PRTs in
- government, Catholic or independent schools
- early childhood education and care settings
- non-school education settings (for example, hospitals or zoos)
