EYALT: Online Professional Learning Program

This professional learning program is delivered in 2-parts. The professional learning program aims to support teachers and co-educators to develop understanding and embed knowledge of the Early Years Assessment and Learning Tool (the EYALT) and its use within their Three- and/or Four-Year-Old Kindergarten programs.

The online professional learning program is available for teachers and co-educators in the first or second year that their service has been selected by the Department of Education

This professional learning program is delivered in 2-parts (3 hours per session). The professional learning program aims to support teachers and co-educators to develop understanding and embed knowledge of the Early Years Assessment and Learning Tool (the EYALT) and its use within their Three- and/or Four-Year-Old Kindergarten programs. The 2 part professional learning program will cover the following content:

 

  • Introduction to the EYALT
  • The relationship between the EYALT and the Victorian Early Years Learning and Development Framework
  • Introduction to the 8 learning and development modules 
  • Learning progressions and suggested Teaching and Learning Strategies 
  • Assessment in the early years
  • Collecting evidence and collaboration to inform assessment
  • Using the EYALT with children of all abilities, cultures and backgrounds 
  • Using the EYALT to support continuity of learning – Transition Learning and Development Statement
  • Using information from the EYALT with families and early childhood professionals
  • Supporting pedagogical change and teamwork

 

The online professional learning program is available for teachers and co-educators in the first or second year that their service has been selected by the Department of Education to implement the EYALT. Backfill contribution is available to eligible services for teaching teams to engage in the professional learning: EYALT funding guidelines provide further detail.

 

Please note – backfill contribution funding is available in 2024 only to:

 

  • Services who joined the EYALT program in 2024
  • Services who joined the EYALT program in 2023 who have had new teaching staff join. These new teaching staff (who haven’t attended the professional learning program in 2023) would be eligible for backfill contribution funding.
