The Beginning Teachers Conference 2022 is designed to prepare and inspire all beginning early childhood teachers as they start their education career. 

Get insights from leaders in the early childhood sector who will share powerful stories and evidence-based learnings you can apply to your new career including: 

  • How to create environments that support learning and belonging
  • How to support children’s developing pro-social skills 
  • What it means to build authentic and sustained relationships with families 
  • How the VEYLDF can support the development and delivery of a quality program 
  • How to design a responsive and child-centred program

This year’s conference series is offered in two formats. Delegates can choose to attend in person or attend online. Date and times are as follow:

Conference speakers include:

  • David Gilkes is a prominent education consultant with over 25 years of teaching experience across Australia. He is also a National Excellent in Teaching Award recipient for his work in early childhood education. David has published several articles and spoken at many conferences. 
  • Sarah Louise Gondolfo is an early childhood teacher in 20-year the sector including working in long day care settings, stand-alone kindergartens, community managed services, school based early learning centres, and consultancy roles
  • Kelly Goodsir has dedicated her career to the development of pedagogy, learning and educational leadership.  She believes whole heartedly that through thinking and learning collaboratively anything is possible.  Kelly invites you into thinking deeply about the ‘why’ and ‘how’ of teaching whilst compelling you to entwine wisdom and courage in all you do.
  • Kerrie O'Neill's experience with the early childhood sector spans over 30 years having worked across a range of services and roles. She is an author and works with educators across Australia as a mentor, coach and researcher.
  • Anthony Semann is Director at Semann & Slattery. With close to 30 year’s experience he has worked as an early childhood teacher and researcher and believes in the power of education as a transformative act.

The COVID-19 pandemic continues to be a threat to the health and well-being of many Australians. Semann & Slattery will continue to monitor and abide by COVID-19 restrictions outlined by the relevant State or Territory Government. Semann & Slattery select venues that have enhanced sanitisation practices and a COVID safe plan.  Whilst we plan to host the event in person we will continue to advise registrants if there are any changes due to COVID-19 restrictions.

This personal information is collected from participating early childhood teachers in order to register to a beginning teacher conference. Providing your personal information will allow you to participate and engage through our secure online environment.

In order to deliver the beginning teacher conference to you, we obtain your mobile phone and other personal details in order to communicate with you about the conference. This information may be disclosed to DET in order to provide you with updates relevant to your role as an early childhood professional, and where otherwise permitted by law. If all requested information is not provided, we may not be able to provide you with the service sought.
