Recommend course:

Description

Overview

As a first-year early childhood teacher, you will learn that respectful relationships with peers and colleagues are part of ethical principles for all teachers. This webinar will discuss the importance of building respectful relationships with peers and colleagues, along with the challenges and practical strategies to support this professional responsibility. This presentation will also discuss how to manage the impacts of the COVID-19 pandemic restrictions, and the requirement for some to work or attend training remotely, on your ability to build relationships with peers and colleagues.

Victorian Early Years Learning and Development Framework and other professional frameworks

This presentation links to the following Victorian Early Years Learning and Development Framework (VEYLDF) principles:

  • Practice Principle 1 – Reflective practice
  • Practice Principle 8 – Partnerships with professionals

The Victorian Institute of Teachers’ Code of Ethics and Code of Conduct (2016), Early Childhood Australia’s Code of Ethics (2016) and the Australian Institute for Teaching Standards and School Leadership Standards for Graduate teachers underpin this presentation.

The VIT Code of Conduct highlights the ethical professional practices that demonstrate a collegial approach to peers and colleagues including treating others with respect, valuing input from colleagues, and sharing information and knowledge with colleagues.

ECA’s Code of Ethics reminds beginning teachers that a spirit of collegiality and professionalism is built on qualities of trust, respect and honesty.

AITSL’s Teaching Standards for Graduate teachers identifies standards for engaging with colleagues and peers.
